MPM Log
Sorting Optimization

MPM Engineering is a world leader in the evolution of log sorting. Historically log sorting has been done by diameter, length, sweep and taper utilizing single axis or X-Y log data. Today, MPM can also sort by utilizing profile 3-D scanners and it's state-of-the-art NextGen log optimization software that incorporates log rotation and/or curve-sawing solutions. The NextGen log optimization uses product fits that encompass the machine configuration and product data. All parameters are definable. MPM also has developed solutions for fitting patterns into the profile shape of the log. In both sorting systems, the logs are sorted by solution rather than by diameter. This has allowed sawmills to maximize the use of high-technology to incorporate log turning and curve-sawing in it's sorting solutions to substantially increase the recovery factor and thus improve the bottom line.

MPM's NextGen software is designed to interface with other machine centers throughout the sawmill. The Intel based processors with Microsoft Windows NTTM operating system allows MPM NextGen to incorporate 3-D graphics and user-friendly reporting.
